Episode One:
Allie and Gavin are happily back together, and Allie wants to open her own hairdressing academy. The venture has financial backing from Liam Carney, an ex-boy-band member who's trying to shake off the trappings of his past life; and Melissa Devereux, Gavin's guilty fling from the past, is hired as Styles Director. When Allie discovers she might be pregnant she thinks she can have it all. Fate, however, has other plans - her suspected pregnancy is actually ovarian cancer. She confides only in Darcey. Misinterpreting Allie's secretiveness, Sydney drags Gavin to the hospital, where he's confronted with the devastating truth about Allie's condition.
Episode Two:
The Henshall Ferraday Academy is up and running and, after her first bout of chemo-therapy, Allie's back to take the helm. But only weeks into the new term, the students are already causing trouble. Liam repels unwanted female attention with a lie that he's in mourning for his dead wife. Eugene begins to suspect that close friends Darcey and Troy are having an affair. But he's jumped to all the wrong conclusions - he's actually going to be a dad!
Episode Three:
The academy is in crisis. A mistake by Liam over the lease means their landlord is barring them from using the building. Allie discovers that her cancer isn't responding to treatment, and joins the 'Gloria Gaynors' - a cancer support group which uses singing as therapy. Liam is forced to seriously swallow his pride in order to win back the lease of from cranky landlady Mrs McClair. Gavin realises that he's allowed the cancer to get between him and his beloved Allie, and finally asks for her hand in marriage.
Episode Four:
Still deep in denial about Allie's condition, the Henshalls exploit Liam's celebrity connections to raise the profile of the Gloria Gaynors. Allie and Gavin's wedding offers the Gloria Gaynors another chance to shine. After the wedding Liam is shocked and horrified by the appearance of his living wife, Justine Jenson. Full of wedded bliss, Allie visits her consultant for an update. On her way out of the hospital she is hit by a passing car. She dies in Gavin's arms.
Episode Five:
Gavin's denial gives way to furious rage as he smashes up the salon. Sydney immerses herself in organising Allie's funeral, even allowing Shane and Craig to create utterly tasteless floral tributes. On the day itself, Gavin faces speculation that Allie might have killed herself, as Liam reveals that she abandoned treatment. Amid strange but heartfelt tributes, the Gloria Gaynors sing out with uncharacteristic good voice, and Allie makes her way to the shimmering salon in the sky.
Episode Six:
The wind of change is blowing as our characters adjust to life without Allie. Gavin thinks he may have found a future with Melissa, and the couple decide to move away and start a new life together. The door closes on the Henshall Ferraday salon, and Darcey is left in charge of the academy, finally stepping out of Allie's shadow. However, at the last minute a dramatic change of heart sees Gavin walking into the distance alone.
