When evolutionary zoologist Nick Cutter and his team discover prehistoric creatures alive and well in the present day, they are under Government orders to keep the public from finding out. But with more and more anomalies opening up, their lives are in permanent danger as they battle to contain savage dinosaurs, giant insects, prehistoric parasites and other deadly foes threatening to destroy our world.

Cutter also has to deal with a deeply personal dilemma - he discovers that his wife Helen, missing for eight years, has actually been travelling in the past.
